Singer and songwriter Katie Reider died Monday after hemorrhaging from a major artery in her brain. The 30-year-old battled a rare tumor the last two years of her life.
In 2006, Reider was diagnosed with myofibroblastic inflammation tumor in her upper left jaw. She underwent chemotherapy treatments, which had almost completely shrunk the tumor. Near the end of June, Reider began to hemorrhage from a major artery in her brain.
Doctors were able to stop the bleeding but it started again on Sunday. Reider died in an ambulance early Monday morning.
“I know that she is going to continue to make such an impact in a lot of lives out there through her music (and) through her voice. She’s always been an angel,” says Reider’s friends Lauren Fernandes.
