A body discovered on Monday evening in Raleigh, North Carolina has yet to be identified but the location suggests it could be that of Nancy Cooper, the 34-year-old mother of two who has been missing since Saturday.
Cooper left her home for a routine jog Saturday morning but never returned. She was reported missing shortly after 2:00 p.m. when she didn’t show up for a gathering with friends.
A man walking his dog Monday evening came across a body near the spot Cooper had been jogging. By Tuesday morning police announced that they were still working on identifying the body and would not say if they believed it was that of Cooper.
Investigators have sent the body for an autopsy and dental records are being checked to identify the woman.
Police did say the cause of death was “suspicious,” a strong indicator that it was a homicide.
