Man discovers he was shot in the head 5 years ago

A 35-year-old Polish man in Germany went to doctors thinking he had a cyst in the back of his head, but left realizing he actually had a bullet lodged there. Bochum police say doctors found a .22 caliber bullet in the back of the man’s head.

The man said he remembers receiving a blow to the head at a New Year’s party in 2004 or 2005, but probably didn’t realize he had been shot because he was “very drunk.”

"He told us he remembered having a sore head, but that he wasn't really one for going to the doctor," says a police spokesman, adding that they believe the man was accidentally shot.

The bullet caused pain, which is what lead the man to seek medical help. The bullet will be removed Friday. No other details, including the name of the man, were released.
