SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah lawmaker has proposed an anti-illegal immigration law similar to that of Arizona that he contends will not be shut down in federal court.
State Rep. Stephen Sandstrom proposed the bill which had its first public hearing last Wednesday. Many of the provisions mimic those of Arizona’s that were shut down in court the day before the bill was scheduled to pass.
The Utah bill intends on requiring police officers to questions the immigration status of those they suspect of being illegal.
A number of Utah lawmakers traveled to Arizona for advice on how to draft the law. Other state officials have made similar ventures, such as members of the Colorado Republican party.
Utah is one of 22 states who are trying to follow in Arizona’s footsteps when it comes to illegal immigration reform.
Now more than ever, it is imperative that those persons living in the United States without a visa or green card apply for legal status. Without the proper documentation, it is nearly impossible for an illegal alien to procure a job. As state legislatures growingly favor stricter immigration regulations, illegal aliens are urged to procure an immigration attorney for advice on what to do.
An immigration attorney specializes in all aspects of U.S. immigration law. It is their job to do everything in their power to make sure their clients are allowed to remain in the country. They handle all the paperwork regarding the case and contact the necessary officials in order to get their clients legal status.
As difficult as it is for legal immigrants to find jobs, places of residence and assimilate into American culture, it is twice as hard for illegals to manage. An immigration attorney will help their client to figure out what course of action to take and be available to help with any questions or concerns.
