DANVILLE, California —A 23-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to DUI and hit-and-run charges that resulted in four people being injured.
Cainan Schierholtz, the younger brother of San Francisco Giants outfielder Nate Schierholtz, has been charged with multiple offenses of driving while intoxicated and hit-and-runs. He incurred three felony counts of hit-and-run and one count of driving drunk. In addition, he is facing a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge.
The incidents occurred on August 1 when Schierholtz was driving his pickup truck through Danville on a one-mile stretch. He hit a pedestrian, two vehicles, a bicyclist as well as a light pole. The victims’ injuries were not serious and they are recovering.
Schierholtz was finally stopped by another motorist and witness.
He is scheduled to appear in court in September.
