Longenecker's take on the meaning of the Supreme Court ruling that the right to keep and bear arms is an individual right is sourced not only from Original Intent of the Founding Fathers, but from our way of life.
As Longenecker often points out, it isn't about Guns, it's about Governance in self-rule, and self-rule begins with carrying our own burdens or suffer at the mercy or lack of it of from others who claim to lift our burdens.
"This is the siginficance of all gun control," explains Longenecker. 'It seeks to disarm the supreme authority under our system - you and me - and disregard the burden we carry of being ultimately responsible for our own personal safety." Longenecker shows how this policy replaces one's own authority and right to react with nothing better, simply nothing at all.
"Since Police have no duty to protect individuals, and because they cannot be everywhere, gun bans replace the personal burden of command of personal safety with Nothing, and this makes them predatory relative to their constituents." he says. "The insistence that guns should be banned with nothing better to protect citizens is purely predatory."
