YourFindit Wants to Know: Is There a Market for Ska Music?

The Masquerade on North Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia will be holding their first annual Mass Ska Raid on Friday, July 18 at 3:00 pm.  The concert will feature twenty local and regional bands playing over seven hours worth of ska, punk, rock and reggae in an effort to amp up the ska music scene in Atlanta.  YourFindit wants to know, is it worth the revival?

Originated in the 1950’s from Jamaica, ska emerged as a mix of Caribbean mento, calypso, American jazz and rhythm and blues.  Since then, the genre has experienced three movements, the last occurring in the 1980’s with the introduction of The Toasters.  The third wave Ska movement reached its peak in the mid 1990’s with bands such as Sublime, Goldfinger, No Doubt, Reel Big Fish and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

YourFindit wants to talk to you, the audience and the fans, about ska and its impact on the music industry.  Is ska really great or does it need to stay in the past?  Let us know!
