Caylee Anthony Search Turns to Grandparent’s Backyard

The search for missing Florida toddler Caylee Anthony has turned to her Grandparent’s backyard. Investigators began digging through Caylee’s grandparent’s backyard to find clues to the whereabouts of the 2-year-old.

The child went missing in early June but her mother Casey Anthony didn’t report her disappearance until 5 weeks later.

Anthony told investigators that she left Caylee with a babysitter at an apartment in Orlando. Anthony alleged that she had been looking for the woman ever since but had been unable to find her. The apartment Anthony identified to be the babysitter’s had been vacant for over 4 months, police say, and the alleged babysitter said she didn’t know Anthony.

Investigators began digging up the toddle’s grandparent’s backyard after investigators learned Anthony borrowed a shovel from neighbors in June, around the time her daughter disappeared. Cadaver dogs were used to search the yard. No details on the outcome of the search have been released.

Anthony, 22, has been charged with child neglect and lying to police. She is being held in an Orange County jail without bond.
