Firefighter Killed, Two Injured after Gunman Opens Fire from Smoke Filled House

A gunman holed up in his smoke-filled Missouri house opened fire on firefighters and emergency workers as they arrived at the residents to extinguish the blaze.

The emergency workers had been responding to a truck fire at the Maplewood, MO home. When they went to put the fire out the man began shooting at them, killing 22-year-old Ryan Hummert and injuring two others. The two injured were transported to local hospitals.

The St. Louis County Police Department have not announced the status of the gunman but it is believed the man set the vehicle on fire as well as his house to attract the officers.
