“This isn’t really about landscaping,” says Terry Jones, owner of Xia Scapes. “It’s about architecture and applying that to exterior space to create an addition without walls. Exterior space has always seemed to be an afterthought. Everything is boxed in and closed off; we let the house breathe.”
Xia Scapes projects are driven primarily by custom hardscape work incorporating native materials. These projects often incorporate everything from pools and spas to firepits, fireplaces, water features, even kitchens and entertainment centers just as one would have in a typical living room or den on the inside of a house.
Xia Scapes design process is a collaborative effort with their clients. With each project Jones is looking to design something creative and fresh; making those ideas a reality depends on surfaces and the types of materials they use to bring an organic energy to the project.
“I think so many people want to connect their inside and their outside but don’t realize they can have all that,” says Jones. “I think the people who do this make their property so much more valuable. A lot of our customers are trying to improve the space for their own needs but on the business side they’re getting a lot of value back.”
