Portugal attorney-general Fernando Pinto Monterio has put the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann on hold. He said the investigation had not uncovered evidence to convict any of the three suspects – the child’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann, and Robert Murat – in Madeleine’s disappearance.
The 3-year-old disappeared from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal on May 3, 2007. No trace of Madeleine has been found.
The McCann family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said the couple felt a “degree of relief but no air of celebration whatsoever” after the attorney general made the announcement.
