Thousands of People Make Money While Camping with their RV

Despite high fuel costs, many people are traveling America in their RVs and making enough money to support the lifestyle they call Workamping.

There's a large community of people traveling the roads of the U.S. who call themselves Workampers. The lifestyle isn't widely publicized, but the folks who live it definitely know how to spread the word. With the help of Workamper News, more and more people are becoming aware of this great way to make money while enjoying the freedom and beauty of our country.

Workamper is a term copyrighted by Workamper News and is defined as individuals, couples, and families who have chose a lifestyle that combines any kind of part-time or full-time work with RV camping.  A Workamper could be an employee, a business owner, or a volunteer.

The jobs that Workampers take can range from part-time caretaker jobs in exchange for full hookup sites and other perks, to full-time careers in management.  The majority of the jobs are in places were RVers already want to be and usually have to pay to be there, such as RV resorts and campgrounds, national and state parks, wildlife preserves, guest ranches, theme parks, motorsports events, and a wide variety of other government agencies and businesses where housing and dependable workers are usually in short supply.

From a survey done by Workamper News in 2008, the average age of Workampers is 61-70, but the 51-60 year-olds are close behind.  Over half of Workampers are living the lifestyle year-round. They are often referred to as Full-timers.

The benefit of being a Workamper is being able to just pack up and move out to another location with ease.  Other great things about this lifestyle that have been mentioned by Workampers: reduced expenses like gas and campground fees; allows you to see family; obtain perks like free attraction tickets in Branson; gives a renewed purpose in life; and provides time for avocation like boating, fishing, or hiking.  But probably the most exciting part of living the Workamping lifestyle is all the new experiences.
