Dr. Dre Expects Highly-Anticipated "Detox" Release in Nov./Dec.

Dr. Dre's highly-anticipated album "Detox" is slated for a release date in "November or December", according to USA Today.

In his first interview in months, Dr. Dre gave an update on his "phantom" album that has been expected for years.

"I'm just now -- over the last couple of months -- starting to feel that it's going to be right and it's something I can be proud of, and everybody is going to love it," Dr. Dre told USA Today. "In a perfect world, I'm shooting for a November or December release."

Dr. Dre was particularly excited about the drums on the album, most of which came from live performance. "We have an entirely new thing going with the drums that's incredible, and we're still developing that," he said.

Despite the anticipation, Dr. Dre said that he doesn't focus on the sales or hype, but the music. "I just make the music feel the way I want it to feel and I don't put it out until I'm totally happy with it," said Dr. Dre, 43. "Then it does what it does."

Dr. Dre, the CEO of Aftermath Records, first hinted at the "Detox" album in 2002. Every year since, there has been speculation on whether the album would drop that year or be scrapped. Now it seems as if it will be released and will feature Dr. Dre's usual guest appearances, including Jay-Z, Nas and Lil Wayne.

He reiterated his prior claims that he will stay out of the spotlight before and after the album's release. "I'm going to put this record out, promote it, tour and then become a hermit. I'm going to stay in the studio and produce."

Dr. Dre, who launched the careers of Snoop Dogg, Eminem and 50 Cent, said he is not interested in working with established artists. Instead his goal is to find the next star. "All I want to do is sit in the studio with that person for a year and try to create another masterpiece," said the rapper/producer.
