A Canadian cruise ship ran aground on an unmapped rock in the Arctic Ocean on Friday. The crew of the Clipper Adventurer, which was carrying 128 passengers, attempted to dislodge the ship during high tide on Saturday. When the attempt failed, the Canadian coast guard began ferrying passengers to Kugluktuk, a small town on the coast, on Sunday.
There were no reports of injuries. The ship, which belongs to the Ontario based cruise ship company Adventure Canada, is stable. Adventure Canada arranged accommodations for the passengers and is placing them on flights to Edmonton.
The Clipper Adventurer was headed to Kugluktuk from Port Epworth when it ran aground in Nunavut’s Coronation Gulf.
