Japan Wins 2010 Little League World Series Title, 4-1, vs. Hawaii

Japan defeated Hawaii to win the 2010 Little League World Series 4-1 in Williamsport, PA on Sunday, ending a streak of five consecutive titles by the U.S.

Konan Tomori had a home run and brought in three RBIs for Japan, whose tough defense and pitching held the Waipahu, Hawaii team to just four singles.

The win is the seventh LLWS title for Japan.

Chinese Taipei defeated Pearland, Texas, 14-2, in the Little League World Series consolation game, which ended after four innings due to the 10-run rule.

Chen-Wei Chen had three hits and Hsun-Hao Shih hit a two run-homer for the team based in the city of Kaoshiung. The team had the tournament's most explosive offense, outscoring foes 62-6 over five games.

Wei-Chih Chen struck out four batters for Chinese Taipei, but allowed Beau Orlando's two-run homer for the Southwest region champs. It was Orlando's third home run of the 10-day tournament.
