Chicago White Sox Reportedly Claim Manny Ramirez Off Waivers

The Chicago White Sox have reportedly claimed 12-time All-Star slugger Manny Ramirez off of waivers on Monday, according to Associated Press.

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Ramirez on waivers last week after a tumultuous three-year stint in Chavez Ravine.

According to reports, Ramirez will join the White Sox in Cleveland on Tuesday as they take on the Indians, the team that drafted him and enjoyed his production for eight seasons.

The White Sox will be responsible for the remaining $3.825 million of Ramirez's contract this season.

Ramirez batted .311 with eight homers and 40 RBIs in 66 games with the Dodgers this season, but was on the disabled list from July 20 to Aug. 20 with a right calf strain and missed 33 games.

After his series against Cleveland, he will take on the Red Sox in Fenway Park, where he played for several years before he was traded to the Dodgers in 2008.

That summer, he hit .396 with 17 homers, helping to propel LA to a postseason berth. However, soon thereafter, he was hit with a 50-game suspension after a failed drug test last year.
