Wall Street - A Hot Bed For Drug Abuse

Whoever said that Skid Row was the ultimate for drug abuse had never walked down Wall Street. Reports indicate that this financial Mecca has some of the worst drug addiction problems in our country. And while this may make sense to some due to our country’s financial state, to others this amount of drug abuse among professionals is surprising because of the social stigma related to addiction.

It is important to realize that anyone can become addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. In fact, according to treatment centers like Narconon Riverbend Retreat, most of their clients are established businessmen and women. Often times the pressures of life are too great for even the most well off and unfortunately they turn to drugs and alcohol to relieve those pressures.

The key to handling drug addiction is addressing those pressures that led to the drug abuse in the first place. Narconon Riverbend Retreat has found success in this approach, instead of focusing on the disease theory of addiction. Currently this facility achieves a 76% success rate for permanent recovery, compared to 20% industry standard.

There are several components to the Narconon Riverbend program that allow for such a large amount of people to remain sober after enrolling. In addition to discovering what problem or problems led to the drug abuse, clients also tackle the incessant cravings that addicts suffer from once the cease the drug use.

In order to effectively handle drug cravings, clients enrolled in the Narconon Program spend a portion of their day in a dry heat sauna. The sauna, combined with a regimen of vitamins, nutrients and light exercise, cleanses a person’s body of all harmful toxins, left behind from the drugs and alcohol. These toxins are the chief culprits of cravings. In fact, when a person ingests drugs and/or alcohol, not all of these substances are released from the body. Some stay behind and attach themselves to the fatty tissues in the body. The toxins stay in the fatty tissues until the person is under some sort of physical stress at which time, the toxins release, re-enter the bloodstream and remind the brain that the drug or alcohol is necessary. These dry-heat sauna treatments are vital to sobriety because they allow the person to go through life without the constant presence of cravings.

Drug abuse has touched every walk of life. It will continue to penetrate our homes, families, jobs and schools until those that are addicted can permanently stay away from these poisons.
