Men Bomb Bar in Cancun, Mexico

Eight men hurled homemade bombs into a bar in Cancun, Mexico early Tuesday morning, killing six women and two men who worked at the bar. The attorney general of the state of Quintana Roo said the dead were all Mexican nationals. They died of either burns or asphyxiation.

The attackers fled the scene in vehicles. No arrests have been made. Judicial police are investigating the attack. The bar is not located in the part of Cancun frequented by tourists.

Meanwhile, in an effort to stop violence and corruption in Mexico, authorities have fired 3,200 federal officers for being linked to corruption or failing to do their job. They have charged 465 of the fired officers with crimes.
