PETA Offers Reward for Info on Girl Who Threw Live Puppies into a River

A video of a girl tossing live puppies into a river has sparked outrage among internet users and prompted People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to offer a reward for information leading to the arrest of the girl and anyone involved in filming the video.

The girl, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, picks up the 6 puppies one by one and throws them into a river. At one point she shouts “Wheeee” as she tosses a puppy.

Web users on sites like Facebook and 4chan have vowed to help track down the woman, who appears to be in her late teens or early twenties. More than 2,300 people have already joined a Facebook group called ‘Find the Girl Who Threw Puppies in River.’

PETA is offering a $2,000 reward. "Animal abusers are cowards. They take their issues out on the most defenseless beings available to them,” says PETA Manager Martin Mersereau. "According to law-enforcement agencies and leading mental-health professionals, perpetrators of violent acts against animals are often repeat offenders who pose a serious threat to all animals—including humans."

PETA says the video appears to have been shot at the Vrbas River in Bosnia. The girl appears to speak Croatian.
