Second Man Survived Ranch Massacre in Mexico, Says Ecuador President

Ecuador President Rafael Correa revealed Tuesday that a second man survived a mass shooting that left 72 Central and South American migrants dead in northern Mexico last week. A migrant from Ecuador, who tipped Mexican police off to the massacre, was previously thought to be the only survivor.

Correa says the man revealed there was a second survivor. The second man reportedly migrated from Honduras.  No other details were available.

Mexican authorities raided the ranch last week after receiving the tip. They found 72 bodies – 58 men and 14 women – above ground in a shelter on the ranch, which is located in Tamaulipas state. The Zetas drug cartel is believed to be responsible.
