Chinese Authorities Dismiss Bomb Claims by Militant Islamist Group

Chinese authorities have dismissed claims made by a militant Islamist group maintain they were responsible for a series of bus bombings that claimed five lives in Shanghai and Yunnan.

Those claims, made by the Turkestan Islamic Party, were dismissed by the Chinese authorities who have said there has been no evidence linking the explosions to terrorism.

The Turkestan Islamic Party has claimed responsibility for several attacks inside China and has threatened to disrupt the Olympic Games in Beijing scheduled for next month.

Threats made against the Olympic Games have led Chinese authorities to make several arrests of militants.
