NATO Investigating Claims that Air-Strike in Afghanistan Killed Campaign Workers

NATO has said they are investigating a claim that a precision air-strike carried out by foreign forces in Afghanistan has killed ten campaign workers.

According to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), the strike in Takhar province was targeting “an Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan senior member” and as many as twelve insurgent shad been killed in the strike.

That claim was refuted by the governor of Takhar who said the vehicle attacked had been carrying a number of campaign workers, Abduljabar Taqwa went on to say the area had been peaceful and emphasized there had been no Taliban insurgents there.

ISAF’s Maj. Gen. David Garza released a statement following the allegations, saying “We're aware of the allegations that this strike caused civilian casualties and we'll do our best to get to the bottom of the accusations.”

Garza then stated “What I can say is these vehicles were nowhere near a populated area and we're confident this strike hit only the targeted vehicle after days of tracking the occupants' activity.”
