The TJX Companies, Inc. (NYSE:TJX)  shares rose 0.81% to $41.22 after it reported a rise of 2% in its August sales at stores open at least one year, lower than the expected rise of 2.4%, according to Thomson Reuters. Consolidated sales for the four weeks ended Aug. 28 climbed 6% to $1.7 billion.

The TJX Companies, Inc. (TJX) is an off-price apparel and home fashions. The Company operates in five business segments: three in the United States and one in each of Canada and Europe.

 

Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE:JWN) soared 5.74% to $32.06 after its August same store sales at stores soared 6.3%. marginally ahead of expected rise of 5.9%, according to Thomson Reuters.

Total sales for the four weeks ended Aug. 28 surged 13.6% to $615 million. Norstrom said same-store sales at full-line stores rose 7.8%, ahead of analyst estimates of 7.7%. Same-store sales at rack stores fell 4.2%, behind consensus predictions of a 2.3% fall.

 

The Gap Inc. (NYSE:GPS) rose 1.70% to $17.50 after t its August sales at stores open at least one year were flat. Analysts were expecting same-store sales to fall 0.2%, according to Thomson Reuters.

Net sales for the four weeks ended Aug. 28 held flat at $1.1 billion.

The Gap, Inc. is a global specialty retailer offering clothing, accessories, and personal care products for men, women, children, and babies under the Gap, Old Navy, Banana RePiperlime, and Athleta brands.

BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc. (NYSE:BJ) rose 1.80% to $42.83 after its August sales at stores open at least one year rose 2.4%, fell short of expected same-store sales to rise 3.3%, according to Thomson Reuters.

Sales for the four weeks ended Aug. 28 rose 4.9% to $794.6 million. Excluding gas sales, same-store sales at BJ's clubs rose 1.9%, lagging estimates of 2.4%.
