Phoenix Kiosk will provide a brand-new, computer kiosk to Goodwill of Central Arizona at no cost. The donated kiosk will replace the one that was destroyed in a July 31 fire at Goodwill’s main campus at 16th and Van Buren streets. The new self-service kiosk will debut at the grand opening of Goodwill’s new facility, at McKellips Road and Center Street in Mesa at 9 a.m. on Sept. 3, 2010. The kiosk allows visitors to search and apply for jobs.
Goodwill lost more than $1 million of inventory, as well as additional property, in the fire. Understandably, Goodwill made a special request for donations after the fire, and Phoenix Kiosk is pleased to aprovide the replacement kiosk to the non-profit organization. The kiosk has a value of more than $2,500.
“When unfortunate things happen, it’s uplifting to see the community step in and make things better,” said Martin Acosta, national sales director for Tempe-based Phoenix Kiosk. “When you think about the countless positive contributions that Goodwill makes in the lives of so many people, Phoenix Kiosk’s decision to provide a new kiosk was a logical and swift one. We are delighted to do this.”
Goodwill has played a prominent role within Phoenix’s charitable community since 1947. In fact, the non-profit operates more than 40 locations throughout the Valley. More than 25,000 people received services at Goodwill in 2009 and more than 6,700 were placed in competitive employment.
“We deeply appreciate the donated replacement kiosk we lost in the fire, as well as all other donations,” said Jim Teter, President & CEO of Goodwill of Central Arizona. “Considering the cost associated with a human-resources kiosk, this is a very generous act by Phoenix Kiosk. We have enjoyed a great relationship with their company, and Goodwill will always be very grateful to them.”
Phoenix Kiosk will have a representative in attendance at the grand opening on Sept. 3.
