The Los Angeles area of Chino Hills was rattled by a 5.4 earthquake shortly before noon on Tuesday, causing buildings to shake and knocking telecommunications services out for awhile.
As many as 29 aftershocks have been felt since the initial tremor hit just outside Chino Hills at 11:42 a.m. The earthquake was felt between Los Angeles to San Diego and slightly in Las Vegas.
The quake's epicenter was about two miles southwest of Chino Hills and about five miles southeast of Diamond Bar, the United States Geological Survey said. Chino Hills is 29 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
The center was about 7.6 miles deep as the quake shook several buildings in downtown LA. There have been no reports of water or power outages.
