Journalists Facing Limited Internet Access at Beijing Olympic Games

With the Beijing Olympic Games set to get under way next month journalists covering the summer games may need to do their research before heading to China after government and Olympic officials have admitted their Internet access would be censored.

When China bid for the Olympic Games they promised unfettered Internet access for journalists but now less than two weeks before the Opening Ceremony the government has admitted they would be limiting access to several sites.

It is believed the majority of the sites blocked will involve those tied to Falun Gong, a spiritual group banned in China and sites sympathetic to Tibet. Sites that report human rights abuses and certain news sites will be blocked as well.

Chinese and IOC officials have assured journalists they would have sufficient access to complete their stories
