Authorities in Mexico say they have identified 6 suspects responsible for the murder of 72 migrants in the state of Tamaulipas last month. The gunmen were identified with the help of 3 survivors of the massacre.
Police say three of the suspects were killed in a shootout with the Mexican Navy on the ranch where the bodies were discovered August 24. The other three suspects were found dead in a car parked on the side of a highway. A seventh suspect has been arrested and is being investigated. The suspects are believed to be members of the Zetas drug cartel.
The bodies of the Central and South American migrants were discovered after a survivor tipped authorities off to the ranch. The bodies of 58 men and 14 women were found above ground in a shelter.
