Radovan Karadzic, Former Bosnian Serb Leader, Appears Before UN War Crimes Tribunal
Radovan Karadzic, the former Bosnian Serb leader indicted on 11 counts of war crimes, is appearing before a UN war crime tribunal in The Hague to hear charges filed against him relating to the Bosnian conflicts in the 1990s.
Karadzic, who has opted to conduct his own defense, will have the option of entering a plea but could also delay that decision for 30 days before answering to the charges.
Wanted for his involvement in war crimes committed in Sarajevo, Srebrenica and other areas, Karadzic had been on the run for more than 13 years when he was captured in Belgrade last week.
