Mexican authorities say two bodies discovered in the town of Comas Altas are believed to be those of investigators looking in to the massacre of 72 migrants in the state of Tamaulipas.
Jaime Suarez Roberto Vazquez, a deputy public investigator, and Juan Carlos Suarez Sanchez, the secretary of public safety in San Fernando, disappeared August 24. They were involved in the investigation of the killings of 58 men and 14 women, whose bodies were found above ground in a shelter on a ranch near San Fernando. Three people survived the massacre. One of them tipped authorities off to the ranch.
Among the items found with the two bodies were police badges, and personal and voter IDs. DNA tests are being conducted to identify the bodies.
