Rob Whalen, the Executive Director of the Heisman Trophy Trust, has released a statement in which he says that "Yahoo Sports claiming Heisman Trust has reached a decision is completely false. The Heisman Trophy Trust has made no decision regarding the Reggie Bush matter.” This statement comes just a day after Yahoo Sports reported that the Trust is expected to strip Bush of his Trophy before the end of the month, which would make Bush the first player in the 75-year history of the award to have his taken away. To be fair, Yahoo Sports did not report that the Trust had reached a decision, but rather that the Trust was expected to reach a certain decision soon. William Dockery, the President of the Heisman Trust, has also released a statement, saying, "The status of the USC / Bush matter remains unchanged. Any reports to the contrary are inaccurate. Please refer to July 2010 statement below.... The Trust will be considering the issues raised in the USC/Reggie Bush matter, and after reaching a decision will publish it, but due to the complex issues involved and the Trust’s desire to reach an appropriate decision, no definitive timetable has been established. Until the matter has been fully considered and a decision is reached, the Trust has no further comment.” If true, that statement contradicts the suggestion that the Trust will reach a decision before the end of the month. Whatever the case is, however, the fact is that the Trust has not reached a publicly known decision yet. And until they do, the future of Reggie Bush's Heisman Trophy will remain unknown.
