Stocks Turn Lower on Jobs and Manufacturing Data
The early enthusiasm generated by a smaller-than-expected drop in nonfarm payrolls has been replaced by a growing skepticism about the state of the economy following a rise in the unemployment rate, a huge loss at General Motors, and a rise in crude prices.

Light, sweet crude shot up $2.47 to $126.55 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, after rising as high as $128.60.
Bond prices slipped. The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note, which moves opposite its price, rose to 3.97 percent to 3.95 percent late Thursday.
The dollar was mixed against other major currencies, while gold prices fell.
