Honus Wagner Baseball Card Fetches $1.62 Million at Auction

A rare 1909 Honus Wagner baseball card was sold for $1.62 million at a memorabilia auction in Chicago, nearly half the price the same card in near mint condition sold for in 2007.

The T206 American Tobacco Company card is considered by many as the holy grail of baseball card collecting due to its scarcity; fewer than 100 are believed to exist.

John Rogers, an Arkansas man, paid the $1.62 million for the Wagner card considered in excellent condition.

Wagner was one of the original five baseball players inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
