Only two people now stand in the way of the U.S. Open Final that almost every tennis fan would like to see. After beating Fernando Verdasco in straight sets on Thursday night, top-seeded Rafael Nadal has only one man, Mikhail Youzhny, standing between him and the Finals. Meanwhile, No. 2 Roger Federer is set to face off against Novak Djokovic in the other Saturday semi-finals match. If Federer and Nadal win their respective matches, they will battle each other on Sunday in what could easily be the most exciting tennis match of the year. “Right now, for me, it's a very, very nice feeling to be in semifinals for the third time in a row, for one of the most important tournaments in the world," said Nadal in an on-court interview. "For me, probably right now, the most important." That may be because Nadal has never won a U.S. Open before. Like he said, this is his third straight appearance in the U.S. Open semis. In 2008 and 2009, he lost to Andy Murray and Juan Martin del Potro, respectively. Now he faces Youzhny, who says "Yeah, I'm ready to be bad person. I love to be bad person in this case,” meaning that he would love to get the upset win over Nadal. But Nadal will be a force to be reckoned with. Not only has he been in top form for the entire tournament (his serve was broken for the first time last night), but he may also be especially motivated to play well by the fact that, if he wins the Open, he will become the seventh tennis player ever to win a career grand slam. Meanwhile, 5-time U.S. Open champion Federer is also a clear favorite to reach the Finals and even win his 6th title. Will we see the U.S. Open dream match this year? Only time will tell.
