Robert Novak has announced he will immediately retire from his position a political columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times after the recent revelation that he was suffering from a brain tumor.
Novak is said to be in “dire” condition, a word used by the Chicago Sun-Times on their Web site where the announcement was published on Monday.
Novak, 77, formerly hosted CNN’s “Crossfire” and appeared on The Capital Gang. In 2007 Novak had his memoirs, Prince of Darkness: Fifty Years Reporting in Washington, published.
In July Novak was cited and fined $50 for striking a pedestrian with his car while driving in Washington. Days later he collapsed and was hospitalized and that’s when doctors found the journalist had a brain tumor.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times Novak plans to undergo radiation and chemotherapy.
