Clijsters Wins Third U.S. Open

Belgian Pro Continues Streak

Belgian tennis great Kim Clijsters won her third U.S. Open title on Saturday by defeating Vera Zvonareva 6-2, 6-1 in a match-up that left many viewers wanting more. After having defeated Caroline Wozniacki in the semi's, Zvonareva was expected by many to give Clijsters a run for her money, but Clijsters dominated the whole affair. The match clocked in at just less than one hour and saw Clijsters winning her second straight U.S. Open title. "It's always an honor to go back to a place, especially a Grand Slam, where you've done well and you've won, and you want to bring your best tennis again," Clijsters said after the match. "I know if I bring my best, I'm capable of beating the best players." A defeated Zvonareva said, "She didn't really give me chances to get into the match. But I also think that physically today she was just much better." On the men's side of things, tennis fans all across the country were disappointed on Sunday when the men's championship match between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic was canceled. The two will face off against each other on Monday at 4 PM ET.
