A plane carrying 47 passengers crashed Monday morning in Venezuela. The aircraft, which belongs to government-owned airline Conviasa, went down 12 minutes after taking off from the Guayana airport in Bolivar state. Authorities have confirmed at least 2 people died and 21 others were injured.
Witnesses report the ATR42 plane hit power lines before crashing in an industrial junkyard and bursting into flames. The cause of the crash has not been determined and is under investigation.
