Balloon Festivals Gather Guests but Inns Help Them Soar

BnBFinder.com's Bed & Breakfasts Let Guests Prep their Own Hot Air Balloons and Ride Them Too

NEW YORK, Sept. 8 _ Don’t have time to make it to the many balloon festivals taking place this fall? Why not schedule your own balloon getaway – on your own schedule? Why should you have to hit Albuquerque, New Mexico in early October for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, when you could go, say, late October, or any other month and prep your own balloon and ride it too? Inns across the U.S. are offering larger-than-life real-sky experiences. In fact, many man-meets-balloon happenings don’t even take place during the festivals because there isn’t any balloon or airspace left!

Here are some of BnBFinder.com’s inns that offer some truly uplifting packages:

Above the Ordinary. The Bottger Mansion of Old Town in Albuquerque, New Mexico has a “hands-on” experience where guests can prep a balloon as a crew member and help fill ‘er up. The package includes two nights at the inn, a hot air balloon ride for two, continental breakfast, flight certificate, balloon flight pin, and a balloon keepsake ornament.

Heavenly Dreams. By tradition, the bottle of champagne goes to the farmer in whose field your balloon has just landed, but it's more likely that you'll celebrate your flight by drinking the champagne yourselves at The Governor's House in Hyde Park, Vermont. The two-night package includes a deluxe room with fireplace, a hot-air balloon ride across Vermont's scenic landscape at sunrise, a private breakfast afterward the inn and two souvenir champagne flutes.

Lakeside Lift. The Kingsley House Bed and Breakfast Inn in Fennville, Michigan offers a three-hour hot air balloon journey, complete with a champagne toast. After, enjoy a specially made gourmet picnic basket under the stars by the Lake Michigan shoreline.

New Horizons. The Fairville Inn in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania helps guests reach new heights with a spectacular balloon flight over the Brandywine Valley at dusk or dawn followed by a champagne toast. The package also includes a $75 gift certificate toward dinner for two at Simon Pearce or Pace One restaurants. Free admission for two to two of the following are also included: Longwood Gardens, the Brandywine River Museum or Winterthur Museum & Estate.  Welcoming flowers, cheese platter, champagne or wine are also included, as are full breakfasts and afternoon teas.
