Boating Accident in Brazil Leaves 11 Children Dead

Authorities in Brazil say 11 children of the same extended family died in a boating accident over the weekend. The boat was carrying 2 guides, 5 adults, 1 teenager and 10 children ages 1 to 11 when it capsized in Sobradinho Lake in Bahia state.

None of the children knew how to swim. The two guides and 5 adults were able to swim to shore. Police were able to recover all 11 bodies. The cause of the accident is unclear. Several media outlets report the boat was overcrowded.
