James Patrick Wonder Arrested and Charged with Murder of South Florida Federal Agent

James Patrick Wonder was arrested and charged with the murder of customs agent Donald Pettit on Wednesday, ending a massive manhunt that had been launched less than 24 hours earlier.

SWAT teams and dozens of officers working on a tip from an anonymous caller descended on a shopping center where they found Wonder. He was apprehended without incident.

Wonder is accused of shooting Pettit outside a Pembroke Pines post office while the agent’s 12-year-old daughter looked on.

Pettit’s daughter was able to identify Wonder as the shooter, leading authorities to charge the 65-year-old man with the agent’s murder.
