Philadelphia-bred rocker Robert Hazard, who is known for writing ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun,’ has died at the age of 59. The singer’s wife Susan confirmed that Hazard unexpectedly passed away Tuesday night after surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Hazard wrote ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’ in 15 minutes while sitting in a bathtub. The song became a hit in 1983 when Cyndi Lauper sang it. Hazard performed with a band called the ‘Heroes’ and later formed a country music band ‘The Hombres.’
