Which Smart Phone Data Plan Is the Cheapest?

Concerned About the Long-Term Expense of Owning a Smartphone?

We've also had a new Iphone challenger, the Blackberry curve 3g 9300 T-Mobile smart phone, in the office to play with. Don't know what smart phone to go with? Don't Want Have To Pay $200 a month like you are making a car payment? After comparing the cost of owning a smartphone on AT&T, T-mobile Wireless, Sprint PCS and Verizon Wireless, we found that the cheapest smart phone data plan is the 450 anytime minute plan from Sprint PCS.

The second cheapest plan is the $99.99 a month unlimited plan at Sprint Wireless. The 2 most popular Sprint phones last month sold on our website was: the Samsung Intercept for only $5.00 and the Blackberry Curve 8530 smart phone.

The commentary below is from: PC World Editorial Intern Lauren Barnard

" The biggest selling smart phones on the market, however, bear strikingly similar to your cost of ownership figures. The Iphone 4GS, the Blackberry curve 3g from both T-Mobile and Verizon wireless, the Blackberry storm, and the Blackberry tour from Verizon and the HTC Aria from AT&T each cost between $150 and $160 per month to own. While the cost of devices themselves very, the Unlimited's voice, messaging and wireless broadband rates for six AT&T and Verizon smart phones in our study are exactly the same."
" To those reading, irregardless of whether you go with AT&T or Verizon for the blackberry, chances are that youíre overpaying. Up to 80 percent of wireless customers pay more than they need to on their cell bill. If you want to seriously reduce your overall wireless expenses, work with a service whose goal is to save you money-not with the wireless providers who all want to maximize what you pay. While in the throes of dealing with my own Verizon Wireless bills, I discovered a very effective way to reduce cell bills that is saving me around $230 per year off my original plan (which equates to roughly a free month of cell service for me)."
