Bernie Mac Dies from Complications Related to Pneumonia

Bernie Mac, the popular comedian whose stand-up routines and film appearances brought him millions of fans, has died from complications related to pneumonia. Bernie Mac was 50.

 

Mac was admitted to a Chicago hospital last week due to pneumonia but was pronounced dead early Saturday.

 

The comedian/actor had suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body’s organs. His publicist has said the disease did not play a role in his death.

 

Mac appeared in several blockbuster hits including “Transformers,” “Ocean’s Thirteen,” “Ocean’s Twelve,” “Bad Santa,” “Charlie’s Angels,” and “Ocean’s Eleven.” He also appeared in the Original Kings of Comedy

 

Mac earned two Emmy Award nominations as well as a pair of Golden Globe nominations for his show The Bernie Mac Show.
