Relative of U.S. Men’s Volleyball Coach Murdered on First Day of 2008 Beijing Olympics
A relative of a U.S. men’s Olympic volleyball coach was stabbed to death by a Chinese man on Saturday while a second relative was left badly injured following an attack that officials are still struggling to understand.
The two relatives had been touring central Beijing and were at the Drum Monument, a 13th Century landmark, when the attack occurred. After stabbing the two Americans the assailant left to his death from the second story of the monument.
Officials identified the attacker as 47-year-old Tang Yongming.
