2008 Beijing Olympics Results: US Women's Basketball Team Defeats China 108-63

Tina Thompson leads the U.S. women's basketball team in a big 108-63 win against host nation China on Monday morning.

Thompson scored 13 of her game-high 27 points during a huge run to end the first quarter, which set the tone for the blowout against China.

Sylvia Fowles added 18 points and eight rebounds for the Americans, who stretched their Olympic winning streak to 27 games. The U.S. women's team is attempting a fourth straight Olympic gold medal.

The Americans redeemed themselves from an 84-81 loss against China in the gold medal game of a tournament in Beijing in April. The U.S. team had just four current Olympic players on that team: Fowles, Kara Lawson, Lisa Leslie and Katie Smith.

The U.S. team led by as much as 45 points, finishing with a great 56.8 percent from the field. Candace Parker scored 12 points and Leslie added 10 in the victory.

Miao Lijie had 16 points and Chen Nan 14 to lead China. Thus far, the United States is the only unbeaten team in Group B.

On Sunday, the U.S. men's team also played China, defeating the host nation, 101-70, in the most-watched basketball game in world history.
