2008 Beijing Olympics Results: Italians Dominate Women’s Individual Foil in Fencing, Maria Valentina Vezzali Captures Gold
The Italian women looked dominate in fencing’s individual foil results on Monday as Maria Valentina Vezzali captured gold and Margherita Granbassi secured bronze while Giovanna Trillini just missed a medal in fourth.
Maria Valentina Vezzali beat South Korea’s Nam Hyunhee for the gold while Granbassi outpointed Trillini for the bronze.
Monday’s victory was Vezzali’s third straight Olympic gold medal in the event.
