Wiki Wins Gold with Consumers

Home Buyers Affirm Need for Quality Real Estate Information

Similar to Wikipedia, Real Estate Wiki has proven that the savvy consumer needs and wants access to quality information about the home buying and selling process. With so many websites trying to sell homes and real estate related services and products, Real Estate Wiki fills the crucial role of a free, third party resource and validator.

This month Real Estate Wiki broke through 25,000 entries. It was launched only 6 months ago with 7,000 entries and is now the largest wiki that focuses exclusively on the real estate industry.

According to a spokesperson for Real Estate Wiki, almost 20,000 unique visitors per month are viewing a wide selection of information in 70 categories.  However, the following five categories had the most visits during the six month period ending July 15th:

  1. Glossary of Terms
  2. Foreclosure, REO & Short Sale FAQs
  3. Financing FAQs
  4. Home Selling FAQs
  5. Acronyms and Abbreviations

Another feature of Real Estate Wiki that is very widely used is the “Wiki Widget”. The widget allows consumers to access the Real Estate Wiki from any website.  As the word has spread, many real estate brokerage companies and agents are now adding this complimentary service to their website and blogs. It is estimated that the Wiki Widget is already operational on over 250 websites. To download your “Wiki Widget” go to www.realestatewiki.com/widgets.html.

Real Estate Wiki (www.realestatewiki.com) is a privately funded, non-profit venture that does not allow any advertising on the wiki – participation and usage are free to everyone.
