Bernie Mac's Funeral Arrangments Set for Friday, Aug. 15

The funeral for comedian Bernie Mac will be scheduled for Friday. However, the full details of his funeral arrangements have yet to be released.

The location is still undisclosed, but it is uncertain if the family wants the funeral to be private or if they arrangement are not yet complete. His funeral is expected to be in Chicago, Mac's birthplace and hometown.

Mac, the famed actor/comedian, died Saturday at Chicago's Northwestern Hospital at age 50. He was pronounced dead Saturday morning after complications with pneumonia.

Bernie Mac, whose real name was Bernard Jeffrey McCullough, suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body's organs. However, his sarcoidosis went into remission in 2005, according to his publicist.

His death was unexpected, sparking several heartfelt messages from former co-stars and friends, such as George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Samuel L. Jackson, as well as former "Kings of Comedy" co-stars Cedric the Entertainer and Steve Harvey, who now is a syndicated radio show host for his own "Steve Harvey Morning Show". Several of his former co-stars and friends are expected to be at his funeral on Friday.

Mac is survived by his wife of 31 years, Rhonda McCullough, their daughter Je'Neice, and a granddaughter Jasmine.
