Stocks Trade Mixed as Oil Prices Decline

The bulls are trying to overcome early pressure as crude oil prices pare gains that stemmed from elevated geopolitical concerns. Stocks are lingering around the flatline as there is a lack of any major stimulus on either the economic or equity front.

In midmorning trading, the Dow Jones industrial average fell 1.06, or 0.01 percent, to 11,733.26, after the blue chips' 300-point jump Friday.

Broader stock indicators rose. The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 3.26, or 0.25 percent, to 1,299.58, and the Nasdaq composite index rose 15.34, or 0.64 percent, to 2,429.44.

Light, sweet crude fell 30 cents to $114.90 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. That is oil's lowest level since early May.
