Gun Ban Upheld at Atlanta Airport

The world’s busiest airport will remain gun-free as a federal judge upheld a ban on firearms inside Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport despite a gun rights group’s contention that a recent state law provided the right to carry concealed weapons within designated areas of the airport.

According to the new law, residents who have passed a criminal background check are allowed to carry concealed weapons in areas that include mass transit.

The group, GeorgiaCarry.org argued that the airport falls under the new law yet U.S. District Judge Marvin Shoob ruled such an allowance could cause “a serious threat to public safety and welfare.”
