"40-Year Old Virgin" Actor Shelley Malil Arrested for Stabbing Ex Girlfriend

Shelley Malil, best known for his role in the hit comedy "40-Year Old Virgin, was arrested Tuesday for stabbing his former girlfriend.

Shelley Mathew Malil, 43, was arrested Monday night as he got off a train in Oceanside. Malil had taken the train from Los Angeles to meet with his attorney, who along with family and friends had persuaded him to turn himself in.

On Sunday night, police answered reports of screaming and breaking glass. When they arrived to the scene, they found a woman with multiple stab wounds and cuts on her face, with no suspect at the scene. She was taken to the hospital and was in critical condition Monday morning.

Malil was arrested for investigation of attempted murder, mayhem and burglary and booked into the county's detention center.

Malil played Haziz in the "40-Year Old Virgin", joining the cast along with Steve Carell, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Elizabeth Banks, Paul Rudd and Mindy Kaling, who plays Kelly Kapoor on "The Office" along with Carell.

Malil is also remembered for his award-winning "What Are You Doing?" commercials for Budweiser.

According to IMDB, Malil played small roles in such TV shows as "JAG," "Scrubs," "Without A Trace," "NYPD Blue," and "The West Wing".
